Writer's Block: The New Breed

Unbeknownst to many of my friends, many of my readers (heh, if I have enough to label them as 'many'), I am furiously working on a short story epic entitled, "The Arbiter". I could ramble on here for days about what the story collection will be about, but I like to reserve that creative energy for the actual writing.
Anywho, I've run across quite the pickle. I am very concerned about driving certain points within the story home, certain themes, motifs and ideas.
What concerns me is that I'm doubting my abilities to place those themes in the story efficiently, second guessing nearly every single sentence, wondering if the wording, the sentence structure, if the fact that I want the sentence in there at all, is detracting from the overall theme or underlying philosophy of the story.
Should I dwell on details this much? No, I know this. ESPECIALLY on the first draft of the piece. But hell, I can't seem to conquer this.
Whatever, I say. Write the first draft, check the first draft, edit for the second iteration: that's the mantra, that's the plan.
Here's to hoping "Arbiter" soars and comes back to me with a smooth landing.
